Beauden Barrett is set to take over kicking duties this weekend after Rugby Heaven broke news this morning that usual weekend starter Aaron Cruden missed his flight to Argentina following a night out drinking.
As a result of the circumstances revealed, All Black coach Steve Hanson has aired his displeasure towards Cruden, saying that the team are “extremely disappointed” with Cruden and went on to say that this situation is “out of character” for the usual All Blacks playmaker.
Barrett’s back up is due to be Colin Slade, the other first five currently on tour with the All Blacks.
Aaron Cruden is set to miss this weekends test against Argentina and the following match against South Africa at Ellis Park.
There is already talk that Daniel Carter could be in the mix for the South African matchup if a third kicking option was needed.
More may be revealed about the exact circumstances surrounding Cruden’s missed flight out of Auckland so for the time being the NZ Public should not go too hard on Cruden, but if it is purely as a result of a night out on the town, then Cruden’s actions are very out of character and far removed from his usual track record.
