Rugby Challenge 3: New Game With Old Annoyance

Rugby Challenge 3 is the same as what has come before, but with updated teams, more competitions, the addition of Sevens, and better graphics.

But at its core, Rugby Challenge 3 is the same game as Tru Blu released back in 2013, just with a newer, yet unimproved skin.

The new Be a Pro mode falls short with confusing camera angles, little incentive to keep plugging away, and no immersion whatsoever.

Nearly all the bugs in general game play have remained, including the referee’s whistle getting stuck and constantly blowing after a goal kick has taken place.

Teams rosters are a year old, but thankfully users have the ability to upload and share the latest versions of their favourite teams via the Fan Hub feature.

The AI in Rugby Challenge 3 is as annoying and confusing as ever, offloading the ball much more than would ever happen in a real game of rugby.

With no new animations or presentation, Rugby Challenge 3 doesn’t justify itself as an improvement worth the $100 price tag that anything fresh to the table.

Aside from the addition of Sevens rugby, and the official licenses of England Rugby and the Springboks, this is a game that feels no different than its original, with the same bugs and unrealistic AI.
